Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Radiallahu anhu) was born on 1st of Ramadan 470 Hijri on 18 March 1078 C.E. in Gilan, Iran. He was a Sayed from both his mother and father,s side.He completed his academic and spiritual studies by 496 Hijri and spent a period of 25 years in jungles of Iraq doing Riyaazat and Ibadat.One of most famous books his Ghuniyatut Taalibeen and many of his lectures are still preserved today; over seventy thousand people would attand his lectures.

He passed away on the 11th or 17th of Rabiul Aakhir 561 Hijri and is buried in Bghdad, Iraq.

He has said, "How can that person be a teacher to others, when he is not able to teach (control) his nafs."
